Membership Socials

During the Pueblo German American Club’s member socials, participants come together to celebrate and explore German culture, heritage, and traditions. Activities may include presentations, discussions, cultural demonstrations, and social interactions that foster a sense of community among members interested in German heritage.

Quarterly Board Meetings

At these structured gatherings, the organization’s board of directors convene to discuss and make decisions about strategic matters. These meetings are open to all members. We review financial reports, assess the progress towards goals, and evaluate the overall direction of the PGAC. We have collaborative discussions and voting processes take place to shape policies, allocate resources, and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission and values.

Mittagstisch

Mittagstisch is a Saturday luncheon (typically three to four times a year) where members meet at different Pueblo and Colorado Springs restaurants such as Edelweiss or Uwe’s for good food and Gemütlichkeit.

Annual Picnic

Our club’s longest-running event, since the club’s inception! Members bring side dishes and the club provides the staples, such as wursts, chicken, hamburgers, and drinks. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring families and guests to check out the PGAC. In addition to our friendship and the appreciation of maintaining German culture, the picnic is also full of entertainment, singing, and good conversation. Historically, picnics have been held at the Pueblo Mountain Park in Beulah and Pueblo City Park. The 2024 picnic will be a the Pueblo Nature Center.

Opera Excursions

Every summer, several members take an excursion to either the Santa Fe Opera or the Central City Opera together to enjoy a featured opera. They dine, attend the opera, spend the night, and then enjoy breakfast together before heading home.

State Fair Parade & Lunch

The Colorado State Fair Parade is just plain fun when it includes the Pueblo German American Club! Past parade events have included fleets of German cars, and other years we bring out our thirteen-foot tall Beirstein float. Many of us wear Dirndls and Lederhosen (or at least those of us with southern-German heritage!).

O Tannenbaum at the Pueblo Heritage Museum

Every year, a tree at the museum is decorated into an old-fashioned German Christmas tree.

Christmas Dinner Party

Everyone knows Christmastime is special in Germany, and we enjoy celebrating this tradition from far away as well. The PGAC meets for a lovely dinner at the Pueblo Country Club and reviews the club’s year, sings songs, listens to a fun poem or two, and swears-in the coming year’s board.
